A little history on the SAVA brand ... (direct source brand site)
The story begins in Kranj, north-western Slovenia, where the Sava (Sava in Slovenia) joined the Kokra River and flows into the Danube. In 1921, four local entrepreneurs joined forces to open a rubber factory in the city center, manufacturer of rubber products in the Vulkan brand.
This young successful business is bought by the Austrian Semperit rubber manufacturer in 1931 and at the end of the decade, it produces a wide range of industrial products and consumer rubber, including tires. The company changed hands again in 1939 when it was purchased by a large German manufacturer of tires.
In 1946 the company was nationalized and renamed, becoming the Sava Rubber Products Company. This name is abbreviated two years later and production of air and automobile tires chambers begins under the Sava brand.
1965 saw the first production of tubeless tires and high speed Sava. Two years later, the company began to manufacture tires under a license agreement with Semperit. This alliance continues to provide the latest Sava-Semperit joint venture.
A change again in 1985 with the purchase of Semperit by a leading German producer of tires, while our site Kranj continues to develop its production and introduced new product lines.
The Sava modern era began in 1995 as we enter into talks with Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company based in Akron, Ohio. Two years later, a joint venture agreement is signed that sees Goodyear to take a 60% stake in the company Sava.
The growth and expansion of Sava continue with production of approximately 7 million tires annually and conquer new European markets.
